Improv (short for improvisation) is live, unscripted comedy made up entirely in the moment. 

Every scene, character, and story is invented on the spot, inspired by audience suggestions. That means every show is completely one-of-a-kind. What you see on a Thursday night will never happen again. Ever.

You never know where it's going. Neither do we. That's exactly the point.

Our shows start at 8pm and finish around 10pm-ish, so they’re usually about 2 hours long. This does include an interval, so you’ll have time to recover from the tears of laughter we’ve put you in.

We won’t pick on you, and we don’t expect anyone to participate in giving suggestions if they really don’t want to. When we ask for suggestions from the audience, you are more than welcome to just sit and listen to some other chaos-agent in the audience give us some ideas.

Tickets are free to book, and at the end of every show we have a bucket (oooh) and a card machine (OOOOHHH) to take donations from anyone who enjoyed the show. It’s a pay-as-you-feel system, and you’re not obligated to make a ticket payment if you don’t want to.

Our standard shows happen every month, once a month, on the last Thursday of the last week. We tend to do Galactic Death Match every couple of months or so, and Jams happen once a month too. To find out upcoming dates for our other show formats, keep an eye on our Instagram.  

After our host introduces the format of the evening, we launch straight into some improv games. These can include short form, long form, and musical, and even though we know and practice the formats of the games, we don’t know what characters we’ll be playing, situations we’ll be reacting to, or locations we’ll be based in until it’s happening! We get our suggestions for things like characters, situations, locations and relationships from you, our lovely audience.

Almost everyone in our cast has completed at least one Laugh at Leeds course. Their beginners improv courses are excellent for anyone looking to give this marvellous thing a go, and find a really supportive community while they do it.
